The Historic Hexham Trust was set up in 1996 to establish a museum and visitor centre that will educate the public in the historic heritage of the town.three people in period costume
The Trust includes representatives from
the Abbey (including the Rector)
Tynedale Council
Hexham Town Council (including the Mayor)The business community
Schools
Local civic, cultural and historical groups
The Trust has overseen the refurbishment of the Old Gaol and the Moothall, completed in 2005. Improved access has been provided for all. An improved and extended Border Museum has been opened, attracting many more visitors. Work is actively continuing towards realizing the Trust’s original purpose.
